1. Original Work
You must submit only work that you created and have the right to publish.
You must not submit work copied from, based heavily upon, or belonging to another person without their clear permission.
You are responsible for ensuring that your submission does not infringe another person’s copyright, trademark or other rights.

2. No AI-Generated Material
Danse Macabre does not accept work that has been wholly or partly generated using artificial intelligence.
This includes:
  • AI-generated artwork or illustration
  • AI-generated writing
  • AI-generated photography
  • Generative fill or AI-created image elements
  • AI-generated music, video or voices
  • Work substantially rewritten or transformed using generative AI
Basic tools for spelling correction, cropping, resizing, colour correction and ordinary photo editing may be used, provided they do not generate or replace the creative content.
Submissions containing undisclosed AI-generated material may be rejected or removed.

3. Ownership and Copyright
You retain ownership and copyright of your work.
Submitting your work does not transfer ownership to Danse Macabre.
If your submission is accepted, you give Danse Macabre non-exclusive permission to:

  • Display your name, biography and creator links
  • Promote the published feature through Danse Macabre social media and email
  • Use reasonable extracts or preview images when promoting the feature

Because this permission is non-exclusive, you may continue displaying, publishing or submitting your work elsewhere.
Danse Macabre will not sell or license your submitted work to another party without a separate written agreement.

4. Credits and Collaborators
You must provide the names of everyone who should be credited, including photographers, models, writers, artists, makeup artists, costume designers and other collaborators.
You must have permission from identifiable models and collaborators before submitting the work.
Danse Macabre will make reasonable efforts to display the credits supplied with the submission.

5. Editing
Danse Macabre may make minor corrections to spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting.
Images may be cropped or resized to fit the website or social-media format.
We will contact you before making any substantial change to the meaning, wording or appearance of your work.

6. Selection and Publication
Submitting work does not guarantee that it will be published.
Danse Macabre may accept, decline, postpone or remove a submission at its discretion.
We may contact you if additional information, files, credits or corrections are required.
Accepted work will not be published until it has been reviewed.

7. Payment
Website submissions are currently unpaid.
There is no submission fee, and Danse Macabre does not charge contributors to have accepted work displayed on the website.
Any future paid commission or commercial use will require a separate written agreement.

8. Future Books and Printed Collections
